A Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) is a smart investment that protects your RV and gives you peace of mind on the road. It doesn't stop all tire issues, but it does give you the greatest chance of an early warning before a tire failure which could prevent catastrophe.
Two of the top contenders in the RV TPMS space are the TST 507 and the TireMinder i10. I have owned both of these systems and have put 1000s of miles on them between multiple trailers. Below, I'll dive into what sets each of these apart and why either one could be the best upgrade you make for your rig along with my experience using them.
TST 507 RV TPMS: Premium Reliability & Flexibility
The TST 507 TPMS stands out for its reliability, flexible sensor options, and high-end display. It provides real-time monitoring of both tire pressure and temperature, with instant alerts if something goes out of range. The system includes either cap-style or flow-through sensors, giving you flexibility based on how often you adjust your tire pressure. There is also an internal band sensor that you can get that semi-permanently mounts inside the tire. I've used both the internal bands and the clamps with great success.
The full-color display is bright, easy to read, and highly customizable. You can set your own pressure and temperature thresholds, which is essential for RVs that run higher PSI tires or if you decide to upgrade tires. The TST 507 also comes with a signal repeater, which is especially helpful for larger rigs. Its sensors are waterproof, dustproof (IP67 rated), and use user-replaceable CR1632 coin batteries—no need to replace the entire sensor when the battery dies.
The TST 507 never failed me and always performed as expected. In fact, this system has been my favorite to use because of the bright, bold and intuitive display. I also like the fact that you can see both the temperature and pressure at the same time as it cycles through the sensors. My only complaint with this system is waiting for it to cycle through the tires. If you look away to, you know - drive, you can miss seeing the tire you were waiting on. The alarms will still sound if there is an actual issue, but my curiosity would like to see all of the tires at a glance.
TireMinder i10 RV TPMS: Easy-To-Use and Tech-Savvy
The TireMinder i10 offers a streamlined setup and an intuitive, large 3.15-inch color display. The display shows up to 10 tire pressures or temperatures simultaneously, helping you stay aware without taking your eyes off the road for too long.
One of TireMinder’s key advantages is its integration with smart technology. If you prefer to monitor your tire status from your phone, the company offers a Bluetooth-enabled version (TireMinder Smart TPMS) that works with iOS and Android. Even in the standard model, a high-powered signal booster is included to ensure accurate readings from even the farthest tires on your rig. Its sensors are waterproof, dustproof (IP67 rated), and use user-replaceable CR1632 coin batteries. With user-replaceable batteries and support for up to 40 tires, the i10 is ideal for RVers who want dependable performance.
The TireMinder i10 is the system I currently use, and it works extraordinarily well. It solved my problem of not being able to see all the tires in a glance, but you can either see temperature or pressure on one screen. So, you will have to click a button to move between the two readings. I also found it slightly more difficult to program than the TST models.
