If you travel with dogs on your RV adventures, you fully understand the amount of fur that a dog sheds on a daily basis. It gets everywhere and embeds itself into your vehicle's carpet with such persistence that your vacuum can't get it out. It is a small price to pay to have your furry family member along for the adventure but can be a source of frustration none-the-less. That's where the Stick-It pet hair remover comes in. It has saved my truck's black interior from looking like we run a grooming business.
I stumbled across this handy tool at an RV show. Given that we travel with a Golden Retriever and I do my best to keep my truck meticulously clean, I figured I'd give it a shot. I'm always a little hesitant when buying gadgets like this, but it hasn't disappointed. I've owned it for about a year now and use it on a regular basis. It is not perfect, but it does get 90% of the dog hair out of the seats and carpet without much effort. That's a whole lot better than the 30% that the vacuum gets out of the carpet. The Stick-It Kit comes with a larger handheld pet hair remover and a smaller one that is great for those tight corners and the area between the seats and molding.
To use it I typically vacuum first and then go back through with the Stick-It and scrape the embedded hair out of the carpet and seats. Then flip it over and use the green roller to pick up the hair. I have discovered that there is a trick to using the roller side and it is the blue Dawn dish soap. You keep a bucket of hot water and Dawn dish soap solution handy and just dip the roller into it once it gets covered in hair and loses its stickiness. The hair will release into the bucket and then just roll it across a dry towel to have it back to ready to pick up hair. I've tried other mixtures, but the blue Dawn dish soap seems to be the best for whatever reason.
The only downside to the Stick-It pet hair remover is that it is plastic and feels a little cheap, but I'm guessing the price of a metal or thicker plastic handle would likely drive the cost up substantially. Other than that, I've got no complaints. It does what I bought it to do and it does it well. I definitely recommend this tool if you need to de-fur your vehicle, couches, or bedding.
